Open today’s group time by asking students if they know “The Golden Rule.” Have your class recite it together:
“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” Let students know that they already know today’s memory verse from Luke 6:31!
- Do you know people who treat others well? How do they make you feel? (Invite discussion. When people are kind and respectful of others, they are typically pleasant people to be around.)
Living out the Golden Rule is more than just being kind or polite to other people (although that’s important!). It also means helping and serving people.
- If you had $70 extra dollars, what would you do with it? (Accept all reasonable responses, which may include spending it, saving it, donating it, etc.)
Let’s take a look at one couple who found a few ways to bless others.

- How did the couple from the video live out the Golden Rule? (They served others through paying for their food and drinks. Even though they could have found plenty of things to do with their time and money, they chose to live generously instead.)
- How do you see other people impact the world by following “The Golden Rule” from Luke 6:31? (Allow students to answer as time allows.)
