TRUST THE PROCESS
Harmony in Horses is an equine therapy center in Sheridan, Indiana, that specializes in helping young women who have been in the foster care system, including some who have experienced abuse. At the farm, each girl is paired with a horse, ranging from miniature ponies to large mustangs. Executive director Lisa Condes walks the women and horses through a process of connecting to each other and to their own power and agency. “Controlling a 1,000-pound horse or a pony that weighs as much as you do,” she says, “is incredibly empowering.” She has seen great success with some of the girls as they begin to heal. “I have learned to really trust the process. And to trust the horses.”
TRUST THE LORD
As part of Jesus’ sermon about life in the kingdom of God, He addresses the topic of money. Instead of “serving” any other master, Jesus asks His followers to be fully devoted to God’s service. Since our very basic needs can be met by God, worry does nothing to help us. For example, the flowers are clothed by God, with more beauty than the richest person on earth. If God cares about temporary things like flowers, God cares even more about us. Jesus invites us to a daily practice of surrendering our needs to God, rather than worry about what will happen tomorrow
