Does someone need perfect eyesight to understand the world around him? Sometimes physical sight might be the least important thing of all. Let’s check out a group of friends who realize that there’s a lot more to “seeing” than meets the eye.

A man helps his blind and deaf friend experience their team win a football match
When you finish watching the video, discuss the following questions:
- Whose reaction made a bigger impact on you—the soccer fan or his interpreter? (Let students share their reactions.)
- How did the interpreter provide insight for his deaf friend? (He was able to transmit meaning through hand signals, body language, the drum pulse, and a miniature soccer field.)
- Even though the video is about a soccer match, what does it really showcase? (More than sport, it illustrates the emotional power of friendship, bonding, national pride, kindness, and affection.)
- Why do people rely so heavily on physical eyesight? What are some things we can’t see that are far more important? (God, love, emotions, prayer, etc. are all accessible through the spirit rather than through the senses.)
Spiritual insight never relies on our physical eyesight. Jesus understood this as He taught others about heaven and eternity—two things that our senses alone can’t comprehend.
